He pursued his calling through higher education, earning a Bachelor’s in Animal Science, a Master’s in Agricultural Economics, and a Doctorate in Administration of Higher Education. Gordon dedicated his professional life to being a wise steward of the land and a mentor to others as an Agriculture Extension Agent with Oklahoma State University, Texas A&M, the USDA, and the University of Illinois.
Beyond his professional achievements, Gordon was a man of deep faith and a dedicated servant to his community. He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club, Rotary International, and the Lion’s Club, and served as a Deacon and Elder in his church. His life was a testament to the values of integrity, hard work, and service to others.
This scholarship will be awarded to a student at Abilene Christian University who is following in Gordon’s footsteps by majoring in Agribusiness, Animal Science, or Environmental Science. What an inspiring program last week as we presented the 2025 Melvin Martin First Responder Award to Jones County Sheriff Danny Jimenez! 🏅
Sheriff Jimenez was honored for his incredible 40 years of service, integrity, and selfless leadership in law enforcement. Our guest speaker, Judge Brooks Hagler, praised him as a true public servant whose influence reaches far beyond the county line. This year's award also marked a special milestone as Sheriff Jimenez is the first recipient chosen from outside Taylor County! In recognition of his outstanding career, a $1,000 donation was made to Anson Meals on Wheels.
Thank you, Sheriff Jimenez, for your dedication to our communities! And thank you to all the first responders and guests who joined us for last week's program.
